Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take insurance?

I’m an out-of-network provider who provides superbills on a monthly basis for reimbursement.

A superbill is the receipt that you need to submit to your insurance company in order for them to reimburse you for a portion of the services.

Clients pay my fee upfront. Most clients with PPO / POS insurance plans receive 40%-80% of my fees reimbursed (after any deductible is met).

We've partnered with Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.

Mentaya is perfect if you:

• Have out-of-network benefits

• Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance

• Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement

• Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!

Here's how it works:

1. Sign up for Mentaya: https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/QUltXpTrrcDcn9EoeRcg

2. Our practice will enter your sessions into the platform.

3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.

4. You get reimbursed by insurance!

Mentaya charges a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required,

dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies.

It's risk-free: They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.

How to verify your O-O-N Coverage?

You can contact your insurance provider to verify your out-of-network coverage.  When speaking with your insurance provider, some helpful questions to ask include:

  • Do I have insurance benefits for out-of-network mental health/behavioral health services?

  • Is there an out-of-network deductible that must be met?

  • Is a referral required from my primary care physician?

Serious Mental Health Condition Information.

According to NYS Licensed Professions, “the Education Law and Regents Rules specify that it is unprofessional conduct for a creative arts therapist, marriage and family therapist, mental health counselor, or psychoanalyst to provide any mental health service for a serious mental illness on a continuous and sustained basis without a medical evaluation of the illness by, and consultation with, a physician regarding such illness.” Read more here to learn about which Mental Health Diagnoses falls under this criteria.

Based on this information, in order to receive services, I may need to be in contact with a psychiatrist or MD for treatment consultation. This will be determined during our initial consultation call.
